What was it all about?

2024 marked our third annual Vegan Kids Festival, a transformative weekend that brought together hundreds of vegan families at the beautiful Woodhouse Park Activity Centre in Bristol. Building on the success of our previous years, this festival continued our mission of creating a safe, inclusive space where vegan children and their families could connect, celebrate, and thrive together.
What started as a small gathering of 200 families in 2022 has blossomed into a vibrant community celebration, with 2024 welcoming our largest gathering yet. The festival maintained its intimate, family-focused atmosphere while expanding its offerings to include more activities, workshops, and opportunities for connection.

What's was on 2024

Kitty Stewart

Kitty Stewart bridges the worlds of contemporary folk and comedy-pop with rich, soulful vocals, sweet ukulele delights and an interactive, captivating performance.

Beth Munroe

Beth is a DIY artist. A solo acoustic singer-songwriter, guitarist, vocalist and producer. Her soulful vocals and thoughtful lyrics alongside ambient finger-style guitar, merge blues, pop and ambient indie styles.

BFriendly

Duo BFriendly bring their own brand of feelgood reggae music and anecdotal humour, with songs about life, loves and the environment with a witty lyrical and singalong style. 

With two albums ‘Be Friendly’ and ‘Working Man’,  BF say, ‘If we can bring a little sunshine into peoples lives and bring people together and make them more caring and compassionate about the planet we live on, then our mission is accomplished.’

Drum Runners

Join in with the junk drumming workshops to create a junk band performance. Learn to play some great rhythms using the drums (including the bicycle wheel drums). Fun, funky and full of silly original songs and rhythms to bring the festival community together. Junk drumming workshops, more fun than you can shake a stick at!

Ray Star

Ray is a multi-award-winning author with a passion for nature, animals, and the Earth. She is most known for the best-selling fantasy fiction trilogy Earthlings, a coming-of-age dystopian read for lovers of climate fiction and magical realism.
Ray’s writing style has been praised as ‘a millennial Enid Blyton’, and her debut trilogy reviewed as ‘genre-defying’, ‘the Narnia of our time’, ‘one of the best vegan books’.

Nature Makers

Nature Makers helps children, families and adults to connect with nature and themselves, by providing mindful nature art, craft and play experiences using eco-friendly and vegan products, so that families can raise their children to have an appreciation of our precious planet whilst learning mindfulness skills to develop emotional resilience and self esteem.

Vegan Queen V

Vegan Queen V is a vegan animal rights activist singer songwriter. She shares a powerful messages of truth, love, compassion and freedom through her songs. Her debut album ‘Freedom Warrior’,  released May 2022, sheds light on how animals are treated animals in the animal agricultural industry, and until these animals are living free, unharmed by human activity, we ourselves as humans cannot be free.

Dave Colebourn Saxes

Dave is a professional woodwind artist covering a plethora of genres of music, always striving to push against the walls of what is possible with a sax. He always puts boundless energy into his performances, and his greatest strength is how easily that energy infects the audiences that he plays to.

Silent Garden is a music band that started in Australia. Live original music they call Deep Pop.

Dance with Difference

Awaken your senses, shake out your energy and connect body and mind, through movement, rhythm and lots of fun. There will be colour, music and space to find your dance!
Explore, express, attune and create together with your child. Let them take the lead, find their rhythm and access their imagination through the dance.

Bath Astronomers

Bath Astronomers is a group of keen stargazers living in or near Bath. The group’s objectives are to share the experience and enjoyment of practical astronomy and promote the astro sciences to younger and youth audiences alike.

Tina Newman

Tina Newman is the creator of the Vivi the Supervegan and co-founder & CCO of Peace in a Pod Productions Ltd. She is a writer and qualified Animal Nursing Assistant. Tina is a passionate ambassador for Animal Justice Project and an expert contributor for the Vegan Society’s Vegan Education Network.

Green Beard Vegan

Also known as poet Paul Holroyd, a poetic activist, who writes and recites animal rights vegan poems, speaking out for the voiceless.

Green Gazelles

The world’s first vegan rugby club. Green Gazelles promote a more compassionate and eco-friendly future through sport, coming together to compete at 7s and touch rugby tournaments and exhibition rugby fixtures.

Khepera CIC

Khepera is Eygptian for ‘Transformation’. The desire to help other people realise how much they can do for themselves to improve their health was the reason for starting Khepera CIC in 2015. Khepera run projects for the community, with a team of volunteers, helping young people, vulnerable adults and families.

Laura Chepner

Laura is the Education Officer at The Vegan Society and Chair of The Vegan Society’s Education Network, and is passionate about fostering inclusivity, empowering youth, and advancing the vegan movement. She is committed to nurturing a generation of changemakers who are equipped to lead with compassion and empathy. She’s well known for introducing the phrase ‘vegan-inclusive education’ to the education sector.

Vegan Runners

Vegan Runners is a UK-wide athletics club full of beautiful, compassionate runners of all levels of ability, promoting a healthy, performance-enhancing, cruelty-free lifestyle to runners and encourage vegans to take up running. They are also a thriving community which arranges local meetups for training, social activities, races and to support good causes.

Ruby Darbyshire

Ruby’s first performance was standing on a street bollard at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, playing harmonica at the age of 4. This was followed by going out most weekends finding her voice and playing guitar, busking and raising money for Save the Children. Inspired and being homeschooled, she was able to circumnavigated the planet performing in many different countries.  Ruby is a multi-instrumentalist branching out from being a Highland Bagpipe player, now a singer-songwriter supported and encouraged by some influential names and is passionate in all her endeavours.

Ellie Grace

Ellie is a singer-songwriter poet. Her album, ‘In the Spirit of Full Disclosure’, is available for streaming all over the place.

Their Plantsmiths work with local, seasonal produce, and have have recently been awarded a GOLD level award from Bristol Eating Better, for understanding and application of seasonal produce, and our use of organic, local ingredients. They aim to produce foods with high moral fibre, using only sustainable, organic ingredients.
